Project Background

The Inuit Heritage Trust (IHT) and the Nunavut Inuit Heritage Centre (NIHC) engaged in a significant project aimed at establishing and expanding the social media presence of the NIHC. Located in Iqaluit, the NIHC is an upcoming 5,500-square-meter centre dedicated to preserving and celebrating the rich culture and heritage of the Inuit community. This initiative received robust support from several key organizations, including Nunavut Tunngavik Inc., the Qikiqtani Inuit Association, the Kitikmeot Inuit Association, and the Kivalliq Inuit Association. These collaborations underscored the collective commitment to enhancing the visibility and impact of Inuit cultural heritage through innovative social media strategies.

TOP POST INSIGHTS

As a freelancer hired by the Nunavut Inuit Heritage Centre (NIHC), my objectives were pivotal in not only maximizing but also in establishing their social media presence from scratch. The project entailed enhancing visibility by founding and launching NIHC’s profiles on key social media platforms: Instagram, for its global reach; LinkedIn, to facilitate professional networking; and Facebook, to engage the local Inuit community effectively. Another key objective was content development, where I collaborated with Inuit elders to create authentic content that resonated with the NIHC’s mission of supporting cultural continuity and reconciliation. This initiative provided a vital platform for sharing the rich heritage of the Inuit. Lastly, the project focused on performance optimization, implementing strategic tools and methods to ensure the newly established social media presence effectively connected with both Inuit and global audiences.

Project Outcome

Successfully built the NIHC’s online presence from the ground up, amplifying its digital visibility and fostering a greater understanding and appreciation of Inuit heritage both locally and globally. This foundational effort not only enhanced community connections but also facilitated a robust platform for cultural education and reconciliation initiatives. Through these endeavors, the campaign established a significant and sustainable online footprint for the NIHC, contributing to its mission and extending its reach to a broader audience.
